* Scotland's largest teaching union, the Educational Institute of Scotland, has halted its proposed boycott of post-16 Higher Still examination reforms.
Scottish education minister Helen Liddell held two-hour talks with the union this week after college lecturers and secondary teachers voted to boycott the changes needed to implement the system next summer.
