Medical research projects by two universities on practical applications for patient care have been awarded £20 million by a regional development agency. The universities of Birmingham and Warwick are involved in a "translational medicine" programme promoting the West Midlands as a focus of scientific research in the UK. The latest grant will fund work to improve collaboration between scientists and industry, and to expand clinical trials for new medical developments. This will include the development of a new human tissue depository at Birmingham and the refurbishment of existing laboratories at Warwick.
