Universities ready to get super nurses flying

* Universities are already preparing courses to train "super nurses" - the new consultant nurse status announced last week by the prime minister.

"As the nursing profession moves towards graduate status, there will be an increasing number of nurses who will be able to take on this new role," said Steve West of the University of the West of England.

UWE intends to train super nurses by expanding postgraduate courses in subjects such as oncology and mental health.
