Fashion designer Karen Millen and charity HOPEHIV are to work with the University College for the Creative Arts at Rochester to train a group of 20 young people with HIV in South Africa in fashion design skills. The Gateway School of Fashion enrolled its first students in January 2008 and is located in the city of Pietermaritzburg, in a former prison that once held Mahatma Gandhi. The school offers a one-year fashion training course where students learn fashion design skills alongside garment production techniques.
