Two multimillion-pound academy schools are to be set up in Hastings with sponsorship from a south coast university. The proposals involving the University of Brighton have been given the green light by the government, which has signed a funding agreement worth £40 million. The news has been welcomed by the sponsors, which also include East Sussex County Council and BT. They set up a trust to manage the institutions, which will replace existing schools and aim to improve educational opportunities in the town and aid regeneration in the area.
