Guide-dog trainers can qualify for a bachelor of science degree via a partnership between a university and a charity. The University of Chester has launched a three-year foundation course for guide-dog trainers, and trainers who carry on teaching new dogs old tricks for a fourth year can advance to a full degree. The qualification is aimed at providing an academic background to underpin professional training.
