More than 100 personal notebooks and unpublished poetry by the writer, environmentalist and film-maker Roger Deakin have been bequeathed to a university. The collection had been stored in dozens of crates in the top floor of a barn and later in a container at Mr Deakin's home on the Suffolk-Norfolk border. Now fully catalogued, it has been given to the University of East Anglia by his son. The archive spans Mr Deakin's life from his school days to a varied career that included roles as a teacher and an advertising copywriter.
