An entrepreneur has donated £1.5 million to the University of Hull to establish a new biosciences research centre. Assem Allam's donation will yield almost £3 million thanks to matched-funding support from the Government. The centre, which will focus on biomedical imaging, will be called the Allam Institute. Egyptian-born Mr Allam is one of Hull's most successful entrepreneurs: his business, Allam Marine, manufactures generators and exports them worldwide.
