A mobile-phone service launched by the University of Oxford will provide maps, contacts and news to students and visitors, plus travel information, podcasts and information on library books. Unlike other similar services, the Mobile Oxford portal will send information to a range of devices, not just Apple's iPhone. "Our new free service will answer the kind of questions students need to know on the move, such as: 'Where can I find the books I need?' or 'Where's the nearest pub?'," said Tim Fernando, project manager at Oxford University Computing Services.
