The legendary Manchester rock band, The Fall, is to be the subject of an academic conference at the University of Salford. The event, organised by the university's communication, cultural and media studies research centre, will take place on 9 May. It will examine everything from the band's working-class roots to founder and lead singer Mark E. Smith's infamous HR policy - more than 40 band members have come and gone since the 1980s.
