The treatment of students from social-care backgrounds has won the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff a national award. The Frank Buttle Trust Quality Mark for Care Leavers in Higher Education has been awarded to Uwic because it guarantees students who have left care accommodation for the duration of their course, as well as providing them with annual bursaries of £1,000 and extra pastoral support.
