The University of Warwick renewed its link yesterday with the Unseen University in Ankh Morpork, Discworld.
Ian Stewart, professor of mathematics, and Jack Cohen, reproductive biologist, launched The Science of Discworld II with Terry Pratchett, author of the Discworld series. The book interweaves scientific commentary with a tale of wizards meddling with history.
When Mr Pratchett last visited Warwick, to receive an honorary degree, he reciprocated by performing a ceremony to make Professor Stewart and Dr Cohen honorary wizards of the Unseen University. A spokesman said: "This time, we are only giving him lunch so we won't expect as much wizard-making."
