A lecturer from Manchester University has flown into the record books after travelling nearly 400km in a hot-air balloon.
Ann Webb, who works in the Centre for Atmospheric Science in the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, last week flew across Germany with an official observer. She believes that with the trip she has set a new British women's record for distance and duration in a gas balloon.
