V-c pay survey

Last week's survey of vice chancellors' pay omitted Bristol University, whose vice chancellor John Kingman received a salary of Pounds 86,650 in 1993/94. Derek Fraser, vice chancellor of Teesside University, received Pounds 85,429 salary plus benefits and Pounds 6,440 pension contributions, not as printed. The figure of Pounds 87,125 given for Colin Painter, principal of Wimbledon School of Art, is for a 16-month period.
