V-cs set up admissions advice service

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals will launch a consultancy service for widening participation next week. The service will offer confidential and impartial advice on providing access to higher education for students from under-represented groups and on keeping these students on course.

Last week the Higher Education Funding Council for England announced membership of a team that will co-ordinate the funding council's efforts to widen participation. The team will be led by Geoff Layer of the University of Bradford.
