Jose Manuel Aroca, professor of algebra and geometry at Spain's Valladolid University, has received a six-month prison sentence and been suspended for a further six months for manipulating entrance exam results to favour the sons of two colleagues in September 1995. The student group Alternativa Universitaria, which took Aroca to court over the affair, welcomed the decision.
