Verdict on new food standards agency due

FINAL comments on the James report, which recommends the establishment of an independent Food Standards Agency, are due this week. The initial report, published last month by Professor Philip James of the Rowett Research Institute in Aberdeen, recommends establishing an independent food agency to develop policy, draft legislation and to educate the public. * See Perspective, page 13
