University College London's new Virtual Reality Centre for the Built Environment has been opened, with the help of Pounds 2.5 milllion from the Government's Foresight initiative. UCL researchers have developed original computer techniques to speed architectural design and urban planning, including methods based on Space Syntax, a mathematical theory which relates behaviour to accessibility and visibility.
