(Photograph) - Warm winner: the University of Teesside's new Pounds 8 million learning resource centre (above) is one of the winners of this year's Royal Institute of British Architects regional awards for architecture. Created by architects FaulknerBrowns, the centre has an energy consumption that is nearly half that of its predecessor despite providing almost twice the floor area. Other institutions winning awards include Goldsmiths College, London, for a new IT building, Sunderland University for a reading room and the British Library at St Pancras for its new building.
