The US State Department has exempted the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana from new regulations restricting study in Cuba to programmes of at least ten weeks.
About 80 US citizens are at the school, mainly ethnic minority students who cannot afford US tuition fees. But no other concessions are expected to be made.
