Women make up just 15 per cent of university professors, figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency reveal. According to Hesa's 2003-04 staff data analysis, the proportion of female professors was up from 14.1 per cent last year. Although women now make up 40 per cent of all academic staff, they comprise just per cent of senior lecturers and researchers.
