Within the scope of the EU soil thematic strategy, two Commission funded projects, JOINT and SCAPE, are organising the workshop 'Towards a harmonised management of European soil resources - research agenda for soil protection' on 28 and 29 October in Vienna, Austria.
The soil thematic strategy has produced a final report that assesses soil problems and identifies relates research needs. The aim of the workshop is to reach a consensus within the scientific community and transform the findings of the report into thematic research priorities.
The event will include keynote presentations and working group discussions around the following themes:
- biodiversity and organic matter;
- erosion, compaction, flood and landslides, and sealing;
