Health minister Bernard Kouchner is to overhaul medical studies to end private cramming to pass an exam that leads to highly sought specialisations. Students feel pressured to take the exam rather than the alternative general medicine course and are studying on illegal cramming courses.

The university campus is kinder to lesbians than gay men, according to a study of 200 students at the University of Windsor, Canada. It found a more negative attitude to gay men but that heterosexual men's attitude to gay men improved over time.
