Environmental Sustainability & Green Energy

Overview

With escalating concerns about global energy shortages and the impact of human activity on ecosystems, a great deal of attention has turned to advancing green technologies and discovering alternative sources of energy. While Western's researchers take an interdisciplinary approach to answering a full range of environmental questions, the University has emerged as a leader in research related to energy deficits, sustainability and pollution.

Musculoskeletal Health

Overview

Musculoskeletal conditions, including arthritis and osteoarthritis, are rapidly growing problems, affecting 11 million Canadians over age 12 – at a cost of $33 billion annually. Members of Western’s Bone and Joint Institute have a goal providing lifelong mobility for all by advancing knowledge, tools and treatments related to physical activity; mobility and health; tissue injury, repair and replacement; pain, disability and chronic disease.
