Ken Smith (Letters, 15 February) deduces from Matthew Reisz’s statement that Kori Schake “was born in Sonoma, California, ‘not far from where gold was discovered in 1848’”, that Schake “will turn 170 this year”. However, Reisz’s word order does not support this humorous claim. The order “in 1848 not far from where gold was discovered” would favour Smith’s droll deduction.
