College of Health and Social Care
The College of Health and Social Care offers very hands on practical learning, bringing theory and practice together.
100% of our Nursing graduates and 95% of our BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography students were in employment or further study within six months of graduating.
We have strong relationships with local NHS Trusts and clinical environments and our teaching team undertake a wide range of evaluation, research and consultancy work at a local, regional and national level.
College of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences
The College of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences comprises a team of expert academics and practitioners. With field trips, visiting speakers and masterclasses, the College offers students real world insight across a range of subjects.
The National Student Survey consistently ranks our Law Course as one of the best in the country. The new Derby Law School has recently moved to modern premises within the city.
College of Life and Natural Sciences
The College of Life and Natural Sciences offers a variety of courses, from Psychology to Biology and from Forensics to Sport. Many of our courses are accredited or recognised by professional bodies and we offer practical and field-based training in the UK and overseas.
10. Buxton & Leek College
Buxton & Leek College formed in 2012, following the merger of Leek College with the University of Derby’s Buxton College and is an integral part of the University. For 16-18 year olds our overall success rate of 88% places us on the top 10 per cent of FE Colleges nationally, 23rd out of 222 colleges. The achievement rate of 96.5% for the same courses places us 5th nationally out of 222 Colleges. For students who are aged 19 and above the achievement rate is 97% on long courses and we are ranked 11th out of 222 Colleges. Our unique position as part of the University of Derby Group means that progression to higher levels of study is easier and more affordable than many other Colleges.
