Ajeenkya DY Patil University was established in 2015 by the Government of Maharashtra.

The university is located in Lohagaon, a neighbourhood in northeast Pune, India.

The university consists of nine schools: school of management, school of information technology, school of design, school of hotel management, school of engineering, school of film and media, school of liberal arts, school of law, and the D Y Patil school of architecture.

Outside the classroom, students are able to participate in the university’s extracurricular activities. There are a variety of clubs available for students to join including matheletics club, debating society, greentech club, and chef’s club.

International co-operation is an important part of the university’s activity. It has developed partnerships with a number of higher education institutions around the world including the University of Central Lancashire, Coventry University, and the University of South Carolina. By cultivating a network of international relations, the university aims to boost the mobility of its academic staff and students.

The name "Ajeenkya" means undefeated, unconquerable and victorious, and can be found on the university’s logo. The logo also contains an eagle with its wings spread, which signifies flight towards the sky that is constantly rising higher. There are two saluting elephants, which symbolise strength and abundance.
