About the Opportunity

We have multiple unique and impactful opportunities (Level A and level B) for candidates of indigenous heritage to join the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work to Lecturer in Social Work.  As the successful candidate, you will contribute to quality research and the planning and delivery of topics within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses in Social Work with a focus on indigeneity and decolonisation, mental health and trauma informed approaches to practice, including skills development.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role will include:


	Contributing to the delivery and evaluation of contemporary and innovative learning and teaching experiences primarily within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
	Contributing to teaching in Social Work with a focus on indigeneity and decolonisation, mental health and/or trauma informed approaches to practice, including skills development.

	Engaging in inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience.

Requirements

An ideal candidate has a master’s degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, or a related field. Excellent project management skills demonstrated by earlier experience are a must. The candidate should also convey a strong drive, independence, problem-solving skills, and a desire to work with a strong research group in household finance.

The position creates a natural, but optional and pending on qualifications, path to complete a doctoral degree in finance. A candidate already enrolled or completed a doctoral program could be considered, but emphasis is on the project management skills. Experience in survey methods, and econometrics are considered as a plus. Strong command of English is expected.

Key tasks of the research project manager are:


	Coordinating and implementing collection of global survey for household beliefs and preferences, including pilot testing of the survey in different languages
	Documentation of survey data and methodology
	Setting up infrastructure for re-administering future survey waves
	Preparing funding applications, coordinating project budget, creating, and updating project website, and acting as first point of contact for the project
	Scientific analysis of the survey data for an academically oriented candidate


Salary

Salary will be set according to qualifications of the candidate. An indicative salary range begins from 2550 euros and is higher for an experienced project manager with relevant experience. The position includes occupational healthcare.

The successful candidate will:


	Undertake original research of international excellence.
	Prepare papers for publication in leading journals and/or contribute to the dissemination at national/international conferences, workshops and meetings.
	Communicate to the research projects team the development, progress and results of research activities.
	Develop collaborative links with the core scientific staff in related program areas to gain exposure and build knowledge on experimental/research activities and approaches, in order to improve conceptual development and implementation.
	Identify areas of improvement within the research structure using integrated management approaches in pursuit of capacity building/strengthening and the preservation of scientific rigor in research studies.
	Support if required, the development of proposals for research funding.
	Develop undergraduate courses, Master courses and modules.
	Support the appropriate equipment purchasing and ability to deal with international suppliers.
	Assist to the supervision of Ph.D. students and guide their research work. 


Candidate Profile:

Due to the multidisciplinary character of ACER CoE, the ideal candidate must have as well a multidisciplinary scientific profile:


	PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Processes or another suitable engineering discipline.
	Sound background in Catalysis
	Experience in process engineering including one of these areas: urea synthesis, water splitting, ammonia synthesis or carbon capture.
	Knowledge in advanced structural characterizations will be valued.
	Familiar with risk assessment and safe working procedures in a chemical laboratory.

The Faculty of Bio and Environmental Sciences is looking for a Laboratory Coordinator for the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Systematics

The permanent position is filled full-time starting from 1.2.2025 or by mutual agreement.

Job description

The Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Systematics (MES) is a shared research facility (core facility) at the Viikki campus, maintained by the Faculty of Bio and Environmental Sciences of the University of Helsinki, which focuses on molecular biology research of natural populations of non-model organisms. The MES laboratory is a shared laboratory, and most of the research groups that use it work in the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Program of the faculty. Capacity allowing, its services are also available to all research groups operating at Viikki campus as well as to external users. A dozen research groups are actively working in the MES laboratory, and in addition, its equipment is used by a large number of other researchers of the faculty.

MES laboratory is specially designed for studying molecular variation in a high throughput manner using state of the art approaches with a view to better understanding ecological and evolutionary processes. MES laboratory offers facilities and equipment for multiple research groups for ’omics-related methodologies and analyses including: large scale DNA, RNA and protein extraction and quality assessment, library´ preparation for genome, transcriptome and structural genetic (e.g. ATACseq) sequencing and gene expression analyses (qPCR, transcriptomics including single-cell RNAseq).

The laboratory coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and coordination of the laboratory's functions, the development and upgrading according to the needs of its users, as well as the safety of the laboratory, and acts as a supervisior for some of the technical staff working in the research program.

Coordination includes, for instance,


	Knowledge of the equipment and analysis software and keeping it up-to-date,
	Contacts with authorities (e.g. GMO permits)
	Administrative responsibility of the laboratory, including invoicing
	Negotiation of services offered to research groups outside the faculty


The coordinating tasks also includes introducing new employees to the laboratory and guiding the use of equipment and software. The coordinator also offers, when possibile, technical support for the MES laboratory users in the techniques in use. The coordinator is responsible for the operations of the MES laboratory, in cooperation with the head of the laboratory.

Qualification and experience

The coordinator is expected to have good knowledge and experience in the operation of a molecular biology laboratory, ability to organize the operation of a shared laboratory, good interaction skills, and interest and initiative in developing the methods used in the laboratory. Completed university degrees are considered an advantage when selecting a coordinator. The working environment at the Viikki campus is international and good English language skills are essential for the coordinator's job and proficiency is Finnish is considered an advantage.

Salary and employment

The salary for the position is determined according to the demand level of other staff in the universities' salary system. The requirement level of the laboratory coordinator is 7-8. In addition to the task-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance is paid. The position has a six-month trial period. About the opportunity

The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Chemistry) who will be expected to contribute to the research and teaching efforts of the ARC-funded Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) for the Development of Advanced Radiochemical Technologies.

You will work closely with Professor Louis Rendina (ITTC Deputy Director and Node Leader), two other University of Sydney academics (Professor Elizabeth New and Professor Peter Rutledge), and across Nodes with 2 other ITTC Research Associates in research activities related to the development of novel radionuclide technologies.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate (Chemistry) will engage in novel chemical research exploiting molecular incorporation of radioactive elements, stable chelation of metal radionuclides, and bioconjugation methodologies to deliver technological advances to radiopharmaceutical science.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	undertake research in synthetic organic/inorganic chemistry directed towards radiolabelling
	supervise and train ARC ITTC PhD students at the University of Sydney and, when required, at ANSTO (Lucas Heights, NSW) and HZDR (Dresden, Germany)
	manage the synthetic chemistry laboratory, including the oversight of lab instrumentation
	write reports and prepare research manuscripts for publication, and participate at workshops and conferences
	collaborate with other ITTC Research Associates in the development and delivery of training modules for PhD students
	contribute to the development and delivery of bespoke training in advanced radiochemical technologies to Honours and PhD students and undertake laboratory management duties
	create new networks and opportunities for the Node.


About you
