About the Role

Appointees at Level D (Associate Professor) will have a distinguished track record of research, demonstrated by publications in high-impact journals, successful grant applications, and links with external bodies including industry, government, and community. They will also be expected to have experience in research training at the Honours and postgraduate levels, as well as in postgraduate coursework. Associate Professors are expected to contribute to the strategic directions of the School and actively participate in the governance processes and outreach activities of both the School and the University. The appointee will work closely with research and teaching staff in the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment and will be encouraged to develop collaborations with other areas as appropriate. Appointees will also be required to foster relevant relationships external to the University and may have opportunities for relevant leadership roles in this area.

About You

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. They will demonstrate outstanding scholarly and professional achievement in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, including but not limited to semiconductor technology, with national or international standing in a research area that complements the School’s strengths. The candidate will have a proven ability to attract competitive research funding. They will possess demonstrated skills in leading a team and collaborating effectively with senior school management and other members of a multi-disciplinary team to develop a program of Electrical/Electronic Engineering research and translate research findings into practice. Experience in supervising research students is essential. The candidate will also have extensive ability to teach in related discipline areas such as Electronics (digital and/or analogue), semiconductor devices, control systems, mechatronics, and Power Electronics.

The role

The University of Surrey Campus Services Catering owns and manages its own inhouse campus catering outlets and conference services.

The catering facilities include several restaurants, coffee shops, and bar services, serving a range of menu choices and beverage offerings, including all internal and external event catering. We currently have an Assistant Manager vacancy at our Wates House Bar.

Wates House is one of our busiest catering outlets: it is open for 12-14 hours a day, Monday to Sunday. It offers a range of quality drinks, foods and events, throughout the year. The post is vital in ensuring we deliver high standards of service, driven by an individual who is creative, works on their own initiative, and is capable of managing a large group of people.

About you

As part of the Wates House Team and under the guidance of the Trade Licenses Manager, this role has responsibility for the operational day-to-day management of the Wates House Student Bar, including short term operational priorities and proposing / implementing improvements to current working methods to achieve objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational compliance with food safety and health and safety procedures, management of staff rotas, and placing orders for the bar.

This position will be responsible for staff training, ensuring efficient, engaging, and friendly customer service, and motivating a team of individuals to deliver excellent service. This is a busy, fast paced environment. This position will manage a robust, creative, and successful catering operation on a 7 day a week schedule.

Position overview

The Centre for Indigenous Policy Research (CIPR) in POLIS: The Centre for Social Policy Research,  College of Arts & Social Sciences (CASS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow to work closely with senior researchers in the Centre on topics related to First Nations social, Economic and employment policy.  The appointee will undertake literature reviews, perform mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) research studies, data analysis and draft written reports.  The role will require the Research Fellow to publish in both academic journals and through both the CIPR/POLIS publications series.  They will require a detailed understanding of Indigenous Australians and issues facing them and an ability to interact with Indigenous economics, enterprises, communities, community organisations and government departments.  The appointee will have demonstrated experience in mixed methods analysis.  The Research Fellow will be given the opportunity to work closely with government and First Nations organisations and will develop and demonstrate expertise and skill in an important public policy domain.  

CIPR is Australia’s pre-eminent social science research body focusing on First Nations social and economic policy.  CIPR is part of POLIS: The Centre for Social Policy Research in the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). POLIS is home to six other research centres, enabling CIPR to work across disciplines and sectors, including government, community, business and education.  This interdisciplinary and collaborative space enables CIPR to address and make a difference in the challenges of today’s society.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. Located at the Sydney Brain and Mind Centre, Camperdown Exciting opportunity to work on dementia genetics as part of the Social Functioning Modelling Team  Base Salary from $109,301 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation    About the opportunity  The School of Medical Sciences are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work as part of the new multidisciplinary Social Functioning Modelling team at the University of Sydney Brain and Mind Centre, led by Dr Carol Dobson-Stone and Professor Olivier Piguet. This team consists of 28 senior academics with wide-ranging expertise (e.g. basic science, clinical, neuroimaging, neuropsychology) from across the University of Sydney, who have a research interest in dementia, particularly frontotemporal dementia.  As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will work with Dr Carol Dobson-Stone at the Brain and Mind Centre to identify and characterise genetic contributors to frontotemporal dementia and related disorders. You will analyse whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing data from human DNA samples, perform genotype-phenotype analyses and assess the effect of disease gene variants, using molecular biological and mammalian cell culture techniques. You will be part of a lab that prioritises collaboration, openness, respect and encourages innovation. Opportunities exist to develop further research ideas through the supervision of research undergraduate and research postgraduate projects.    Your key responsibilities will be to:   process, analyse, and interpret samples/datasets from large cohorts   design, conduct, and troubleshoot experiments involving many optimisable variables   work both independently and collaboratively to meet project objectives  effectively time manage concurrent projects  publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. The Senior Engineer position will sit within the Department of Material Physics, Research School of Physics. The Senior Engineer will maintain close cross-disciplinary working relationships with other Senior staff in the OreAI program. The person will manage complex engineering assignments from concept through to implementation, entailing technical specifications, detailed planning and supervision of internal personnel and resources.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified Phd/MSc engineer with practical experience in delivery of advanced geomaterials/materials science or engineering characterization and analysis programs. Experience in working on CT-based geo-material science applications is highly desirable. The person should have experience in project management of scientific or research projects, involving detailed planning and delivery of project proposals and other documents related to project management and delivery. A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organizational skills and effective self-management are key.
