About the role

As an integral member of our team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of units within speech pathology at undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the institutes research course and administrative functions.

You will:


	provide leadership in developing, teaching, coordinating, and moderating units in speech pathology;
	undertake teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
	supervise students undertaking project units, honours courses and research higher degrees;
	participate in team projects and various committee meetings; and
	travel between campuses will be required.

You will work as part of the Institute's team of academic and administrative staff. You will possess proven educational, research and professional experience and seek to embed long and short-term research strategies for the Institute within the strategic framework of the University and in accordance with its mission. You will be a creative thinker and avid problem-solver, who possesses initiative, innovation, and a can-do attitude.

You will possess:


	a Certified Practicing Member of Speech Pathology Australia or proven eligibility for being a Certified Practicing Member of Speech Pathology Australia;
	demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching and learning;
	demonstrated record of research at a national level; and
	organisational and administrative abilities necessary for coordination and administration of units.

Position overview

The Centre for Indigenous Policy Research (CIPR) in POLIS: The Centre for Social Policy Research,  College of Arts & Social Sciences (CASS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow to work closely with senior researchers in the Centre on topics related to First Nations social, Economic and employment policy.  The appointee will undertake literature reviews, perform mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) research studies, data analysis and draft written reports.  The role will require the Research Fellow to publish in both academic journals and through both the CIPR/POLIS publications series.  They will require a detailed understanding of Indigenous Australians and issues facing them and an ability to interact with Indigenous economics, enterprises, communities, community organisations and government departments.  The appointee will have demonstrated experience in mixed methods analysis.  The Research Fellow will be given the opportunity to work closely with government and First Nations organisations and will develop and demonstrate expertise and skill in an important public policy domain.  

CIPR is Australia’s pre-eminent social science research body focusing on First Nations social and economic policy.  CIPR is part of POLIS: The Centre for Social Policy Research in the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). POLIS is home to six other research centres, enabling CIPR to work across disciplines and sectors, including government, community, business and education.  This interdisciplinary and collaborative space enables CIPR to address and make a difference in the challenges of today’s society.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. In the Department of Economic Sociology at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Statistics a position of a Research Associate (post doc) will be filled by March 1st, 2025. The position is limited to a four-year period, which can be extended by two years in case of a positive evaluation. The position holder is expected to develop their own research program in economic sociology – an area in sociology which addresses economic phenomena in societal contexts – including the acquisition of external funds as well as contributing to ongoing projects in the department. The department is looking for a personality who primarily engages in a quantitative, preferably experimental approach to research.

Your future tasks:

Your tasks will encompass research, teaching (according to the regulations of the collective agreement) and administration in the Department of Economic Sociology.

This is part of your personality:


	Completed doctoral/PhD studies in subject Sociology, Political Science, or closely related fields
	Outstanding dissertation
	Firm understanding of the collection and analysis of survey or experimental data and of the relevant statistical techniques, preferably documented by publications in peer-reviewed journals
	Use of experimental methods, a pertinent teaching record and international experience are of advantage.
	The teaching will cover courses regularly offered by the Department.
	Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
	IT skills (MS Office, Stata or R and if possible oTree)

The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), based at Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice.

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Trial Managers to join the existing team. The post sits within the non-cancer group in the area of respiratory. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU which has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).

The Senior Trial Manager (Portfolio Lead) will be responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of respiratory trials ensuring they are delivered according to required standards, time and budget. These are senior posts within the CTU with advisory, leadership and line management responsibilities. They will be required to work with multiple stakeholders so must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and be a good leader and line manager.

The successful candidates will have experience of trial coordination and/or management gained through working on interventional clinical trials, including mixed methods and conducting trials in either secondary or primary care or other research naïve environments. They should have excellent knowledge of GCP and governance relating to trials and other well designed studies.

The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and other benefits. The post is offered on a one year fixed term contract in the first instance with the possibility of an extension.

	Deliver teaching sessions, including clinical skills coaching, case-based discussions, and simulation sessions.
	Contribute to the preparation and marking of written paper examinations.
	Participate in assessments, including marking portfolio tasks, mini-CEX assessments, OSCEs, and Structured Case-Based Discussions.
	Engage in professional development programs designed to promote excellence in clinical teaching.

You will possess medical registration in Australia, be an advanced trainee or Fellow in obstetrics, gynaecology (FRANZCOG), neonatology, or equivalent.

You have flexibility, enthusiasm, experience, and a commitment to quality clinical teaching, with the potential for further enhancement of your professional and teaching skills.

You will also have:


	Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, and students.
