Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) dates back to 1945 when the Naval High School was established in Naval, a municipality in Biliran province of the Philippines. In 1965, the school transformed into a state college under the Republic Act 4309. Some 44 years later, the college was granted full university status and became the Naval State University. It was renamed in 2019 under the Republic Act 9718 and was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Situated in the town of Naval, the university’s campus is a blend of modern architecture and natural beauty. The sprawling greenery provides a backdrop to academic buildings, research facilities and student residences.
There are seven schools of study at the university: School of Engineering, School of Teacher Education, School of Technology and Computer Studies, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Criminal Justice, School of Management and Entrepreneurship, and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Within each school are different departments, offering a wide range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
Outside the classroom, the university offers extracurricular activities, clubs, and organisations catering to a wide range of interests. From cultural festivals and artistic performances to athletic competitions and community projects, there is always something happening on campus.
