Birla Institute of Technology is located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, India.

It was established in 1955 and was deemed a university in its own right in 1986.

It offers courses in biotechnology, pharmacy, food engineering, chemcial engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering among others. 

Several dual degree courses are run jointly with Leeds University.

The university has a central library, 65 course-specific laboratories, Central CAD Facility and a Central Instrumentation Facility and an auditorium. 

There are 14 hostels on campus that students can stay in. All the hostels have the outdoor sports facilities consisting of volleyball and badminton courts.

For more information about the faculty, please see our website: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/sspp.  About the role: Primarily affiliated to SSPP’s School of Global Affairs (SGA), the Student Engagement Officer role is a fantastic opportunity to develop creative engagement skills including producing short videos, social media posts and organising events. The Student Engagement Officer will work across all cohorts – undergraduate through to PhD students – in a number of departments across the School, playing a coordinating role in delivering induction activities and building community, along with activities and systems’ improvements to enhance the student journey. Reporting to the Student Engagement Manager for the School of Global Affairs, the role is ideally suited for those with excellent stakeholder engagement, social media and design skills, possessing great attention to detail and the ability to manage projects effectively. The postholder will be expected to have a positive impact on the student journey by taking an overview of broader pastoral matters, working with colleagues to enhance support arrangements for students.  Given the range of areas covered by the role, and the need to work with a variety of stakeholders, the successful candidate will need to be flexible, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to pitch in with a variety of tasks when needed. An understanding of the potential challenges facing students in Higher Education, and in particular students with additional needs. Evidence of building community and/or supporting stakeholder management. Good IT skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases and social media). Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads. Ability to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work, taking the initiative to progress ideas and proposals through the appropriate channels. Full-time, fixed term role for 2.5 years Based at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde We are seeking an industry-facing researcher to make an impact in space LiDAR, in conjunction with our commercial partner Spiral Blue. This project is a collaboration between the MQ Photonics Research Centre and commercial partner Spiral Blue, funded by the CRC-P grant "In orbit demonstration of an AI-enabled LiDAR multisensor system". The project will develop, test, and launch space-to-space and space-to-Earth LiDAR systems, with the end goal to deploy a space-to-Earth LiDAR system for monitoring of tree canopies. This postdoctoral position will be heavily industry focussed, working closely with the Spiral Blue staff, along with another Macquarie University postdoc and the academic team of Prof. David Spence and A. Prof. James Downes. The position will suit a candidate who is looking for experience of industry engagement, and will have a focus on generating impact with our industry partner, and creating new intellectual property and innovations in the emerging field of space LiDAR.
