About the Level A Role (Associate Lecturer)

The Associate Lecturer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health will be responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the College’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health topics using innovations in teaching practices and technologies within the cultural context, with support and guidance from a more senior academic.

About You

To excel in this role, you will showcase:


	Satisfactory completion of study, or equivalent qualifications and experience in the area of teaching, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
	Demonstrated experience in communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, key stakeholders, and their representatives to achieve positive outcomes
	Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and an understanding of the social determinants of health as they impact Indigenous Australians
	Tertiary qualifications in Education (Desirable).


About the Level B Role (Lecturer)

The Lecturer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health will be a key team member of the academic staff of the Darwin office of the Flinders Northern Territory in the College of Medicine and Public Health. The incumbent will be responsible for the revision, development and teaching of Indigenous curriculum across Flinders Northern Territory. The Lecturer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health will be responsible for making an independent contribution to educational scholarship using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching, with emphasis on Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, primary health care and population health.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:


	Formal qualifications or experience in Indigenous health, or health professional, teaching and curriculum development
	Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and programs (desirable)
	Established relationships with Indigenous communities, groups and organisations.


About the Level C Role (Senior Lecturer) 

The Senior Lecturer will provide leadership in delivering excellence in teaching and learning across the topics and courses in Rural and Remote Health, College of Medicine and Public Health. The Senior Lecturer will be responsible for making a significant and wide-ranging contribution to leadership in teaching and scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching with emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, cultural safety, primary health care and population health across Flinders Northern Territory. They will be expected to draw upon their significant and senior roles in clinical practice to develop industry partnerships for work integrated learning, deliver innovate placement models and provide contemporary and high-quality placement education, both through clinical skills training, simulation and service provision. The Senior Lecturer will also have a key leadership role in service to the College and/or University.

About You

To thrive in this role, you will demonstrate:


	Completion of a PhD, or equivalent qualification
	Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold and maintain a current membership with the Medical Board of Australia.
	Relevant and extensive contemporary clinical experience.
	Significant and sustained evidence of excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level, inclusive of simulation and/or clinical setting.
	Significant and sustained evidence of development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory.  We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.

Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce.  All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.

About us:

The Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre is an interdisciplinary research centre that focuses on how genetics (‘nature’) and the environment (‘nurture’) interact to affect psychiatric disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, and individual differences across development.

Collaborative interdisciplinary research and training are the hallmarks of the SGDP, with research encompassing behavioural genetics, molecular genetics, experimental psychology and psychiatry, and neuroimaging. Our links with clinicians and clinical medicine enable us to maximise the impact of our research for clinical practice and public health policy.

The Centre’s focus is on common psychiatric disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions that emerge in childhood and adolescence, such as mood disorders (anxiety and depression), ‘externalising’ disorders (disruptive behaviour including hyperactivity and addictions), and neurocognitive conditions (learning disabilities and the autistic spectrum) as well as psychotic disorders.  The academics within the Centre are extraordinarily diverse, with multi-disciplinary expertise across psychiatry, developmental and social psychology, psychopathology, personality and cognitive traits, statistical genetics, epigenetics, molecular genetics, behavioural genetics and neuroimaging.

The Clinical Academics working in the SGDP have close links with King’s College London with the NHS from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust where they provide clinical care.

About the role:

The CCP- RCT study is a waiting list design randomised control trial set to test the effectiveness of the existing Cannabis Clinic for Psychosis intervention for cannabis use reduction/cessation in patients with psychotic disorder.

Consistent evidence has shown that continuing to use cannabis after the onset of a psychotic disorder results in increased rates of relapses, compulsory hospital admissions and poor functional outcome. The Cannabis Clinic for Psychosis (CCP) is the first, and still the only NHS service offering an intervention to reduce/stop cannabis use to adults suffering from psychotic disorders under the care of the South London and Maudsley NHS foundation Trust (SLaM). A recent paper reviewing the outcome measures of the first 46 patients who completed the CCP intervention indicated that 73% stop their cannabis use and the remaining 27% reduced their use from daily to once a week.  The latter group as well as those who stopped their use experienced a significant improvement in their clinical symptoms and a remarkable improvement in functioning, returning to school or to work. Qualitative data also suggested that patients found the CCP intervention helpful and tailored to their needs.

Nevertheless, to robustly establish the effectiveness and safety of the CCP intervention the Maudsley Charity  awarded us funding to complete a waiting list randomised control trial (RCT) of the CCP intervention.  The waiting list RCT design allows everyone recruited into the RCT to eventually receive the intervention.

The Research Assistant position will be full time, for 3 years, and based at the SGDP department. The successful candidate main role  will involve : 1)  preparing all the documents necessary for the CCP-RCT Ethics application and follow the process to completion, 2) lead on the CCP-RCT participants recruitment and 3) data collection. These tasks will involve working across KCL and SLaM in close collaboration with the CCP clinical team and with research participants who are suffering from psychosis as well as using cannabis, referred to the CCP.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to attend regular teaching events as well as training courses available at the IoPPN and across KCL to further develop skills and knowledge.

The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Di Forti, the KCL CTU and the CCP clinical team to ensure effective collaboration and coordination of research activities, strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

	A record of establishing and maintaining effective, positive relationships with the minerals exploration industry
	A demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team

Working closely with researchers, it involves the set up and running of laboratory-scale anaerobic digestions rigs and tests alongside the laboratory analysis of anaerobic digestion samples, feedstock and products.

Your personal sphere of play:

The Wanninger Lab is hiring a Postdoc in Invertebrate EvoDevo. We are a dynamic, international group situated in the recently built University of Vienna Biology Building (UBB) with new labs to perform top-notch molecular and morphological research. Additional infrastructure includes animal care facilities to maintain and rear aquatic and terrestrial animals as well as access to sequencing facilities, high-end computer clusters, and an imaging and electron microscopy core facility. Research in our group covers various invertebrate animals. The successful candidate is expected to work on mollusks, a core target taxon of our lab for which a wide range of molecular resources and established lab protocols are available. Previous experience with these animals is not required, but candidates should have a strong interest in working with little-investigated, aquatic, non-model invertebrate animals. The exact research agenda of the candidate will be developed together with the PI; the position is flexible to account for specific interests of the candidate. We seek an enthusiastic lab member who is capable of working rather independently, yet will integrate and interact with other group members. The position is available from July 14th, 2025 onwards. The start date is somewhat flexible and can be negotiated with the PI. The position is fully funded for six years.

Your future tasks:

The successful candidate will work in the group of the PI, Prof. Andreas Wanninger. Within the overall framework and research foci of the Wanninger lab, the PostDoc may work rather independently. Projects will be developed jointly with the PI; significant input from the candidate is highly desired. The job includes active participation in research, teaching, and administration. This involves:


	Developing research projects together with the PI
	Perform independent research in conjunction with the PI
	Draft/write scientific papers
	Publish in established international, peer-reviewed scientific journals
	Presentation at international scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops
	Share own knowledge with other members of the Department
	Contribute to introducing new lab members and students to scientific methods
	Contribute to the teaching portfolio of the Department
	Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
	Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance


This is part of your personality:


	The successful applicant must hold a PhD in Biology or a related discipline.
	Postdoctoral research experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
	Applicants should have experience with designing research projects and with composing scientific manuscripts.
	The scientific profile and expertise should include molecular approaches to EvoDevo questions (e.g., qualitative and quantitative gene expression analysis, transcriptomics). Experience in bioinformatics applications is a plus.
