The British Columbia Institute of Technology (also referred to as BCIT), is a public polytechnic institute in Burnaby, British Columbia. BCIT is one of British Columbia's largest post-secondary institutes.
It has five campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region, with its main campus in Burnaby.
The college focuses teaching and learning across applied and natural sciences; business and media; computing and IT; engineering and health sciences. It also offers apprenticeships across a few industries including sheet metal, auto body and boiler work.
The college has a number of unique facilities, many of which are the only ones of their kind in Western Canada. These include but aren’t limited to: a 300,000 square-foot aerospace technology campus featuring a fleet of 20 aircrafts (including a Boeing 737), a marine engine room simulator (which provides training for marine engineers) an automated manufacturing robotics lab and an interactive fire simulation theatre.
BCIT also runs the only prosthetics and orthotics training programme in Western Canada.
The Burnaby campus is home to the Indigenous Gathering Place, which offers cultural and educational activities for BCIT’s growing number of Indigenous students.
BCIT delivers its international diploma programmes through more than 20 overseas partner institutions in South Korea, China, Brazil, Chile, and Vietnam. It has agreements with more than 180 organisations worldwide for student and faculty exchanges and mobility schemse and industry training initiatives.
