Established in 1957, California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is home to more than 38,000 students and is the second largest institution in the 23-member California State University system.

The institution was founded as Orange County State College and did not become known as California State University, Fullerton until 1972.

The university has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the Performing Arts Center built in 2006 and followed two years later by newly-constructed the Student Recreation Centre and the Steven G. Mihaylo Hall.

Today the 236 acre campus is located in northeast Fullerton, around 25 miles from central Los Angeles and a short drive from the coast. Among the campus features and facilities are the Fullerton Arboretum, the 10,000-seat Titan Stadium, an amphitheatre, a state-of-the-art gym and a number of residence halls. There is also a satellite campus in Irvine, California, around 20 miles away.

There are eight major colleges at CSUF which offer a combined total of 55 undergraduate and 54 graduate degree programmes, and it is also the only university in California offering a master of science in nursing.

CSUF is a designated Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution.

More than 254,000 people have graduated from CSUF including Academy Award winnng actor Kevin Costner, singer Gwen Stefani, TV writer Marc Cherry, director James Cameron and a host of sports stars.
