Founded as a teacher training institute in 1970, École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin, located in Algeria's second city and primary naval port, transitioned to producing engineers in 2012. In the same year, it adopted its current name, adding 'Audin' to honour a martyr from Algeria's war of independence in 2017.
Described on its 50th anniversary by Higher Education Minister Abdelbaki Benziane as a significant institution with expertise in training, scientific research, and technical development, École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin stands out thanks to its dedicated research professors and abundant resources.
Approximately 2,000 students pursue a five-year program at École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin, which includes two preparatory years followed by three years leading to qualification as an engineer. They offer specialisations in mechanical, civil, electrical, industrial, and methods and material engineering.
Facilities include one of Algeria's five FabLabs, with manufacturing laboratories established through a 2020 agreement. Starting from 2023, École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin will be among the four institutions offering a programme in seawater desalination.
Their possession of an automotive industry test bench will also provide an advantage to École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin graduates when Fiat opens its planned factory near Oran.
In the 2022 academic year, 25 students presented end-of-study thesis’ competing for start-up support in École Nationale Polytechnique d’Oran Maurice Audin's Incubator, which registered 16 patents in the last year.
