Ecole Normale Supérieure de Ouargla, in North-Eastern Algeria, was established in 2015 as a teacher-training institution. It trains teachers to work in primary, middle and secondary schools.
The university offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees across six departments: exact sciences; Arabic literature; foreign languages; natural sciences; history and geography; and physical education and sports.
A quarter of its students study French or take courses taught in French. Its aim is to position itself as a strong choice for training foreign-language teachers, especially teachers of French.
Ecole Normale Supérieure de Ouargla recently launched a scientific journal, and is currently developing a research laboratory for language teaching.
It also runs themed days for students.
