As part of its mission to advance scholarship and the teaching of ethics in universities and professional schools, the Institute offers Junior Faculty Fellowships in Ethics to new PhDs or recent PhDs in non-tenure-track positions who wish to pursue a career in teaching and researching applied ethics. This is a one-year fellowship.The fellowship is open to recent PhDs in normative disciplines such as philosophy, political science, and public policy, as well as to recent law graduates who hold a PhD in a cognate field. Compensation is highly competitive. The appointment is for the period from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027.We have one opening for the 2026-2027 academic year. This fellowship is designed to provide the training and experience essential to becoming a successful university-level teacher of applied ethics. GISME Junior Fellows teach two sections of an ethics course per year in either MSB or Georgetown's philosophy department, collaborate with GISME faculty on other courses, and receive the support of Georgetown's ethics faculty to produce quality scholarship during their time in residence. Fellows also participate in GISME's academic symposia and its ongoing project to develop innovative tools and techniques to improve the teaching of applied and professional ethics. Program Assistant, Academics and Administration The Program Assistant (Academics and Administration), under the supervision of the Associate Director, provides administrative support for the Academic Administration of NYUS. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide broad support as part of a team whose mission is to ensure the effective delivery of a first-rate study abroad experience. The Assistant also ensures programmatic support consistent with the high standards that have established NYU as a global leader in international higher education. This is a full-time position based in Sydney, Australia. Approximate time allocations for each duty category are indicated below but may be adjusted as necessary. Operations and Communications (30%) ● Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality ● Assist in updating faculty handbooks, and academic related webpages ● Assist with alumni relations related to NYUS course guest lectures ● Search for and assist with possible academic-related grant applications ● Prepare weekly faculty newsletter ● Attend Intercultural Learning Committee meetings and staff/faculty meetings ● Participate in special projects and after hours/weekend event support as needed Academics (70%) ● Create course schedule, manage classrooms and instructional supplies, organize regular meetings, circulate information, develop and enforce strategies related to academic procedures, and communicate academic announcements, revisions, and updates to all lecturers and students. ● Assist with new instructor onboarding and training in collaboration with Global Academics, manage course materials, ensure submission of grades, respond to academic engagement and student progress concerns, and assist instructors with NYU’s learning management system to support timely updates and communications to students. ● Assist lecturers with place-based learning opportunities such as field trips and guest speakers. ● Monitor USYD course availability each semester. ● Exercise judgement within defined guidelines and practices to provide general guidance and support to students to ensure appropriate academic advising, partnering with the Associate Director and appropriate authorities on escalated matters. ● Supervise exams and implement accommodations for students who have registered with NYU Moses Center for Student Accessibility. ● Support major NYU Sydney programs including, but not limited to, NYU local exchange info sessions and advertising, student orientation, short term programs, signature events, professional development, collaboration with the University of Sydney and community engagement opportunities. ● Other duties as assigned. Full-time, fixed term February 2027 until 2028 Be a part of an Internationally renowned Sydney Laryngology Fellowship Base Salary starting from $79,784 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University is seeking an Academic Research Fellow to participate in The Sydney Laryngology Fellowship. The fellowship is led by Associate Professor Daniel Novakovic, who is the surgical director of the Dr Liang Voice Program at University of Sydney. A/Prof Novakovic holds an FRACS in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and has International subspecialty training in Laryngology. The Sydney International Laryngology Fellowship is a one-year program designed to prepare existing ENT surgeons for a future subspecialty career in the fields of Laryngology and laryngeal surgery. The program involves attachments with several laryngologists across a variety of clinical locations. Clinical activities cover the breadth of laryngology with a focus on voice, swallowing and airway disorders as well as care of the professional voice. The fellow will be integral to the University of Sydney Voice Assessment Clinic. The fellow will also be involved in and assist with other regular multidisciplinary clinics including a dedicated oncology voice and swallow rehabilitation clinic and a chronic refractory cough clinic. The fellowship aims to provide comprehensive post-graduate training to prepare participants for a career in clinical and academic laryngology. The participant will gain exposure to a high volume and wide breadth of clinical and operative cases focusing on laryngology, laryngeal surgery, and care of the professional voice. The fellowship also promotes clinical and basic science research in the fields of laryngology, laryngeal surgery and care of the professional voice. This training program is uniquely tailored to the needs of the trainee. Education will take place in the form of directly supervised on the job clinical training as well as regular educational activities. The program will foster development of detailed clinical assessment skills including advanced laryngeal stroboscopy. There is a strong focus on office-based interventions including injection laryngoplasty, laryngeal EMG, laryngeal botulinum toxin injections and office based angiolytic laser treatments. The fellow will actively participate in operative cases in a graduated fashion based upon their demonstrated level of surgical proficiency Eligibility The Fellowship is available to qualified trainees in the specialty of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, locally and internationally. Candidates should have completed specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and demonstrate a willingness to establish or join a specialty laryngology service upon completion of training. Candidates must be eligible for medical registration in Australia including demonstrated proficiency in the English language at an IELTS or equivalent level. Your key responsibilities will be to: Clinical Participate in clinical evaluation of patients including history taking, perceptual voice evaluation, examination including laryngovideostroboscopy and implementation of a management plan participate in grand rounds, radiology meetings, journal review meetings and registrar's tutorials actively participate in operative surgical cases in a graduated fashion based upon your demonstrated level of surgical proficiency actively participate in office-based laryngological procedures in a graduated fashion attend and participate in regular M&M meetings. The Dr Liang Voice Program has a primary focus on research and education Partake teaching activities at an undergraduate, postgraduate and community level including presentations and local, national and / or international meetings and teaching of students and trainees Participate in clinical +/- basic science research with the support of the program and the University of Sydney Voice research laboratory attend specialty-specific educational activities and meetings as directed by the supervising surgeon/s be actively involved in research including planning and management of projects, development and maintenance of ethics applications and databases, analysis of data and preparation and publication of journal articles and manuscripts. About you: Have an MBBS or M.D qualification (or internationally recognised equivalent) excellent English language skills and evidence of competency in the English language (See below) qualified fellow in the specialty of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery with evidence of the award of principal specialist qualification have evidence of all education and all documentation to start RACS & AHPRA Australian application process demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline of Laryngology evidenced experience in conducting and publishing original research and engaging in scholarly activity experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings.
