GD Goenka University was founded in 2013 by the GD Goenka Group through the Haryana Private Universities Act. It is approved by the University Grants Commission and recognised by the Bar Council of India.
It is a member of several national and international organisations such as the Association of Indian Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the International Association of Universities.
The university is located in Gurugram, a bustling city in the Indian state of Haryana.
Academically, the university is organised into seven schools: School of Agricultural Sciences, School of Engineering and Sciences, School of Hospitality and Tourism, School of Liberal Arts, School of Education, School of Law, School of Management, and the School of Healthcare and Allied Sciences. Each school is divided into different departments, which offer a wide range of degree programmes at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level.
There is also the UID Unitedworld Institute of Design, as well as the Centre of Excellence Occupational Health, Safety, Fire and Environment, both of which have a range of facilities and fully-equipped laboratories.
In order to fulfil its commitment to global engagement, the university established the Department of International Partnerships and Student Mobility. This department is responsible for organising and overseeing all of the university’s international activities including inviting guest lecturers and student exchange programmes.
