The Gulistan State Pedagogical Institute was established in 2022 as the teacher-training and education arm of the more established Gulistan State University. The aim of the new institute is to train high-quality Uzbek teachers, using the latest educational technology.
The institute is located in a province that borders Kazakhstan, and education is conducted in Uzbek, Russian, Kazakh and English. Some departments, such as preschool education, also teach in Tajik.
The institute undergraduate and master’s degrees are offered across five departments: exact and natural sciences; pedagogy; Uzbek language and language teaching; social sciences and arts; and theory and methodology of physical culture.
Lecture halls and classrooms are equipped with up-to-date projectors, as well as video and audio systems. An institute hostel accommodates around 400 students; others rent apartments near the institute.
