institution

Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology is a specialist, fee-paying university in Haryana, northern India.

Founded in 1995, the university is named after Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a 15th century Hindu saint celebrated for his environmental teachings.

The university campus is large – based on a 372-acre site on the outside of Hisar city. Student numbers, meanwhile, are relatively small, with around 4,500 undergraduate and graduates enrolled on courses.

Subjects taught at the university span eight core departments including engineering and technology, medical sciences, environmental and biosciences among others. Science and technology are the biggest fields taught at the institution, but the institution also offers courses in media studies, humanities and religion.

The university also prides itself on its strong reputation for research. Staff and graduate students have access to government grant funding and state-of-the-art scientific laboratories.

Approximately 200 acres of the campus has been developed to provide eight core teaching blocks and 149 employee residences. The campus boasts good facilities, including its own bank branch, a post office and a police station. Students can also make use of a 40-acre sports complex, which includes cricket pitches, badminton and tennis courts, a volleyball court and archery centre.

A large on-site library houses around 100,000 books and academic journals; students and staff are also able to access several thousands e-journals through the university’s online library resource.

Hostel-style accommodation is available for up to 2,150 students on campus, with separate blocks for men and women. The university is well connected to public transport and motorways and is 1km from Hisar Airport.
