Founded in 1991, ISCEE – as the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Economicas e Empresariais is more commonly known – was the first private higher-education institution in Cape Verde. Originally called the Higher School of Management, Marketing and Accounting, its main objective was to train students to work in the areas of economics, business management and accounting.
It retains this focus today, though it has broadened out slightly from its original areas of focus. Today, ISCEE students take bachelor’s degrees in: management; accounting; tourism management and planning; marketing, commercial management and entrepreneurship; and economics.
ISCEE’s headquarters is in the city of Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, but it has two campuses: one in Mindelo and one in Praia, the Cape Verde capital city. It has links with a number of international institutions, including Portugal’s University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in the world.
