Role Overview As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have opportunities to tackle real-world, industry-relevant problems, working alongside faculty members and professional officers. The SIT Centre for Intelligent Robotics (CIR) is an applied research centre responsible for developing and maintaining core applied robotics and embodied AI capabilities for real-world deployment. CIR is seeking a Robotics Engineer to implement state-of-the-art learning-based robotic manipulation methods on physical platforms for industry-driven applications, with an emphasis on contact-rich manipulation, robustness, and safe operation. The successful candidate will work closely with physical robots to translate recent advances in learning-based robotics into reliable, deployable systems. Key Responsibilities Implement, adapt, and evaluate state-of-the-art learning-based methods (e.g. imitation learning) for contact-rich robotic manipulation. Integrate hardware and software components into a functional system for real-world deployment. Design and execute field trials (test protocols, data logging, troubleshooting, reliability improvements). Produce technical documentation, reports, and implementation guides to support knowledge transfer and maintainability. Support project procurement activities (e.g., technical specifications, vendor evaluation, quotations) for robotics hardware, sensors, and compute resources. Contribute to publications and technical notes to disseminate research outcomes. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field. Experience in imitation learning and reinforcement learning for robotics applications. Hands-on familiarity with robotic manipulators and motion planning. Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Experience with ROS / ROS 2 for real-robot software integration. Proficiency in Python and C++, with good software engineering practices (version control, testing, maintainable code). Familiarity with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo. At least 2 years of experience in robotics research or industry projects.

(plus 17% superannuation) Orange We are currently seeking a First Nations Health and Wellbeing Researcher to join the Rural Health Research Institute (RHRI) to support and/ or lead transformative research that strengthens the health, wellbeing, and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in rural and regional communities. At Level A, you will play a key role in research delivery, including conducting literature reviews, supporting data collection and analysis, and engaging with community partners. The Role and Department The Trusts and Foundations Manager will take an active role in liaising with colleagues to establish funding needs, researching and cultivating funders new and old, submitting applications, administering gifts and stewarding donors. They will collaborate with colleagues across the University in academic, college, professional services and leadership roles. They will represent the Institutional Funders Team in a positive supportive manner while balancing the need for the team to align with DARO's strategic priorities and fundraising campaign. The Trusts and Foundations Manager will research funding opportunities and record information on DARO's Raiser's Edge database, providing a resource which can be regularly updated and interrogated as required. They will develop and strengthen relationships with trusts and foundations by networking and making introductions to new funders where appropriate and keeping channels of communication open with existing partners. In addition to trusts and foundations, funders might include statutory funders and religious orders. The Trusts and Foundations Manager will tailor their approach to each funder to ensure they are using the appropriate channels. They will take a lead on writing selected applications, drawing on colleagues' strengths, and be able to articulate the funding need in the context of the University's wider strategy. The value of applications may range from mid-level grants to £100,000 plus. As required, they will organise and host tailored funder visits to the University, working with colleagues including senior staff and providing briefings. They will record the outcome of applications and any feedback. Where an application is successful, they will assist with gift administration. They will encourage ongoing dialogue with funders where possible and they will maintain funder records on Raiser's Edge by recording interactions and noting any requirements for future action. They will work collaboratively and flexibly with all colleagues in the Institutional Funders Team to maximise income for the benefit of the University.
