Your personal sphere of influence:

The research group Neuroinformatics develops machine learning methods to study the relation of neural activity and cognitive processes, and translates insights into clinical applications in patient populations. To strengthen our team, we intend to hire a university assistant with a research focus on brain-computer interfacing.

Your future tasks:

Participation in research, teaching and administration:


	Participation in research projects / research studies
	Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
	We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
	Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
	Supervision of students
	Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
	Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration


This is part of your personality:


	Master's degree or Diploma (or equivalent qualification) in neuroengineering, computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or a related field
	Strong analytic skills and experience in signal processing and machine learning
	Excellent programming skills in Matlab and Python
	High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
	Excellent command of written and spoken English
	IT user skills
	Ability to work in a team


Desirable qualifications include:


	Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
	Knowledge of university processes and structures
	Experience abroad
	Basic experience in research methods and academic writing

About the Role

You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and coordinating courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Management disciplines, including general management, international business, and human resource management. Additionally, you will contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of teaching practices across the Academic Unit.

	Investigate and develop innovative teaching methods and the initiation and development of high-quality materials to support student learning and engagement

Essential Skills and Experience


	Relevant doctoral degree/studies or a postgraduate qualification (at least one level higher than the program taught) and professional experience
	Skills in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment with a demonstrated ability to undertake teaching duties including the design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
	Current and relevant knowledge of developments in the discipline informed by continuing scholarship and/or continuing industry engagement
	High level written and oral communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues

The Role

	Escalate more complex or unique queries to other colleagues as appropriate
	To ensure the recruitment life cycle is delivered effectively and where appropriate engage the use of the Resourcing team
	Ensure payroll and pension related tasks are completed by the prescribed deadlines, ensuring accuracy, quality and consistency of data entry is of a high standard


The role is 21.6 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times. While we offer the option to work from home, we do ask that you come to the office once or twice a week to help maintain our strong team dynamic.

The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers.  The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

General Requirements

Lingnan University is looking for a well-qualified language specialist to head the CEAL. Applicants for the position should demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as having a proven record of curriculum/course development, delivery and assessment. Extensive management experience in a university English language centre or similar environment is desirable. S/he will have a PhD in English language (preferably Applied Linguistics) or a related area, a minimum of five years’ administrative experience, ten years of teaching experience in university English, and a track record of research and publication in language learning and teaching. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor of Teaching.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive.  Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi is searching for accomplished visiting faculty in Physics to educate the next generation of global leaders.  Multidisciplinary research and exceptional teaching in a highly diverse and inclusive campus community are hallmarks of the University’s mission.
