Kashan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services was founded in 1986.
The university is located in Kashan, a city in the Isfahan province of Iran.
The university is organised into five academic faculties: dentistry, health, medicine, nursing and midwifery, and allied medical sciences. These faculties currently offer 53 undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The university operates four teaching hospitals: Beheshti University Hospital, Kargarnejad University Hospital, Naghavi University Hospital and Matini University Hospital. The university is also affiliated with over 60 clinics in the city and the surrounding areas.
The international affairs office was established in 2017 in order to develop the university’s international activity. The office is responsible for facilitating international collaborations in education, research and technology. It also oversees the student exchange programmes, which enable students at the university to study abroad at partner institutions.
There are a number of fully equipped research centres at the university that facilitate research projects throughout the year. These include the Biochemistry and Nutrition Research Center, the Health Information Management Research Center, and the Infectious Diseases Research Center.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Evolutionary Biology Modelling the Evolution of Sex-Specific Differences in Life History and Immunity Supervisor: Dr. Piret Avila Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Academy Research Fellow Dr. Piret Avila are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to develop theoretical work on the evolution of sex-specific differences in immunity and life history traits. We are accepting applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The ideal starting date is February/March 2026, but it can be later. The position involves developing mathematical models to understand how natural selection shapes sex-specific immune strategies. The goal is to generate quantitative predictions testable against empirical data from diverse ecological contexts. We use methods from theoretical evolutionary biology, including optimal control theory, life history modelling, adaptive dynamics, and population genetics. This position is part of the interdisciplinary consortium at the University of Helsinki, Sex Differences in Immunity, led by Dr. Avila, which brings together researchers across evolutionary biology, immunology, genomics, demography, and statistics to bridge evolutionary and mechanistic explanations of sex differences in immunity. Applicants should be established experts with an internationally recognized record of scholarship in Marine Conservation. They should possess a Ph.D. in Marine Science, Conservation Biology, Environmental Policy, or a closely related field, and demonstrate a strong research focus in one or more of the following areas: marine protected areas, marine spatial planning, policy and management, fisheries, and/or ecosystem-based conservation. A proven track record of securing competitive research funding and publishing high-impact research of regional and global relevance is essential. Particular expertise and research experience in Southeast Asia, with a focus on China, are required. The appointee will be a key member of the Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) at the University, providing academic leadership by developing a world-class research programme, mentoring junior staff and students, and contributing to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/She will also serve as a key academic representative of the Hong Kong and China Marine Protection Alliances – cross-sector coalitions focused on marine conservation and sustainable use of marine resources at both local and national levels.
