Kharkiv International Medical University is Ukraine’s first international medical university operating at European standard.
The KHIMU faculty of medicine offers a medical degree that takes five years and 10 months to complete. The university also has three other departments.
The department of humanities and socioeconomic disciplines includes courses such as modern foreign languages, Latin, the history of medicine and the history of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture.
The department of fundamental general scientific disciplines covers subjects such as anatomy, medical chemistry and microbiology, virology and immunology. And the department of professionally orientated disciplines focuses on the practical aspects of a career in medicine, as well as providing continuing professional development.
KHIMU cultural life involves events such as Cossack Day or Smiley Day, a Valentine’s workshop and a masterclass in making wax candles.
The university also has an onsite psychological support service.
