Lutsk National Technical University, in North-Western Ukraine, was originally founded to support the automobile industry – one of its founders was a director of Lutsk Car Works, the other the rector of the Kyiv Road-Transport Institute. With time, the institute’s remit broadened. It achieved full university status in 1997.
There are seven faculties, all related to the university’s technical speciality: computer sciences and information technology; technology; construction and design; ecology, instruments and power systems; machine-building; business; and accounting and finance.
A university culture and art centre invites students to participate in societies including a folk group, a brass band, an amateur theatre troupe and a volunteer group.
The university also runs a series of annual festivities, including concerts in celebration of teachers’ day, international students’ day and mothers’ day. There are also themed events to commemorate prominent Ukrainian figures.
