Luxor University is a public university in the Egyptian town renowned for its ancient – and vast – pharaonic monuments. Previously a branch of Egypt’s South Valley University, it became independent in 2019.
Its location influences some of the courses on offer: there is a faculty of archaeology and a college of tourism and hotels. But it also offers degrees in fine-arts subjects, languages, sciences, computers and information, and medicine.
Facilities for students include a theatre, libraries and accommodation. The university runs workshops and activities for students, as well as providing access to e-learning. It also offers a study-abroad programme.
