About us: The Department of Psychology was founded in 1950 at the Institute of Psychiatry (now the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, IoPPN); since when it has carried on a distinguished programme of research, teaching and clinical practice, with a long-standing link with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The Department is one of the UK’s largest academic groupings of clinical and health psychologists, with developing strength in broader area of applied and basis psychological science. The IoPPN is a Faculty of King's College London and the largest academic community in Europe devoted to the study and prevention of mental illness and brain disease. The IoPPN's greatest strength is the interdisciplinary nature of both its research strategy and educational activities, providing unique opportunities for students and staff. Link to IoPPN webpage: http://www.kcl.ac.uk/ioppn/index.aspx About the role: This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Health Psychology (Education) to join the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London (KCL). The post holder will contribute specialist health psychology teaching on our BPS accredited MSc (Health Psychology) and BSc (Psychology) programmes. The appointment will be made on the Academic Education Pathway, where the primary contribution is to education (80% of role) and secondary contribution to scholarship which is primarily education-focused (20%). On average, this would be the equivalent of four days a week spent on education. The AEP contract is focused on the delivery of education, education-related scholarship, and leadership in education. The following expectations are associated with the AEP: teaching, supervision, student support, educational leadership and innovation, education-related research and administration. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague who can make a distinctive contribution to health psychology education and supervision across our accredited MSc in Health Psychology and BSc Psychology programmes. You should have excellent teaching and communication skills and be able to inspire and inform students. As post holder, you will provide educational leadership on our MSc in Health Psychology. This would include programme and/or module leadership, course delivery, assessment, research project supervision, and personal tutor roles. You may also support other undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses within the school and faculty, and across King’s, for example with project supervision. You should be able to demonstrate suitable teaching skills and experience including curriculum development and assessment design, along with an ability to supervise student research dissertations. The scholarship component of the role should not exceed 20% and is expected to be substantially education focused. Therefore, your research should either be in a pedagogical area or one that impacts on the student experience and/or leads to evidence-based teaching. The content of a member of staff’s workload will be decided in discussion with the Head of Department or Deputy Head (Health). This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. About us The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) is a vibrant faculty based in the heart of London with a long tradition of world-leading research and teaching in physics, mathematics, chemistry, informatics and engineering. This role presents an exciting opportunity to run and develop the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) service in the Chemistry department providing expert guidance and advice to end users from method development to data collection and interpretation. Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager (Operations) at the Guys Campus. About the role The role-holder will have extensive technical expertise in NMR and comprehensive knowledge of small molecule solution NMR. They will support research activities across several different user groups, such as PhD students, researchers, external and industrial users, to deliver an exceptional service. They will manage the service, troubleshoot to minimise downtime and will be responsible for the compliance with Health & Safety and other relevant regulations governing the service. The successful candidate will be an active member of King’s Technical Network, engaging in Faculty and College initiatives to strengthen and share best practice, with an ongoing commitment to professional development.
