The National University of Food Technologies (NUFT) in Ukraine has a rich history dating back to 1884 when it was established in the town of Smila. Initially affiliated with Ukraine's sugar industry, it expanded its scope over the years.

In 1930, the National University of Food Technologies relocated to Kyiv, where it continued to grow and underwent several name changes. It became Ukraine's State University of Food Technologies in 1993 and achieved National University status in 2002.

Today, the National University of Food Technologies is situated in an eight-building complex in the centre of Kyiv, near prominent landmarks. It offers a wide range of programmes across institutes of food technology, technical engineering and economics, and management, as well as faculties of biotechnology and environment, automation and computer science, and hotels, restaurants, and tourism.

The National University of Food Technologies has a strong international presence, admitting international students since 1950. It places a strong emphasis on research, with numerous patents registered, many of them co-authored by students.
